This guide will help you prepare for a smooth, professional, and enjoyable recording experience.

Before Your Interview: 

Choose a Quiet Space. Please record from the quietest location possible.

To help us produce the highest-quality show:

• Turn off TVs, radios, fans, and loud appliances.
• Silence phone notifications.
• Let others nearby know you'll be recording.
• Close windows if there is traffic or outdoor noise.

Every bit of background noise can make editing more difficult, so the quieter your space, the better.

Use the Best Camera You Have

You may join from:

• Your computer (recommended)
• Tablet
• Mobile phone

Whenever possible, we recommend joining from a laptop or desktop computer for the most stable experience.

Internet Connection: 

A strong internet connection makes a huge difference.

If possible:

• Use Wi-Fi with a strong signal.
• Close unnecessary browser tabs.
• Pause large downloads or streaming services during the interview.
• Ask others in your household to avoid heavy internet use while you're recording.

Audio Matters Most. 

Great audio is even more important than great video.

For the best sound quality:
Recommended

• USB microphone
• Podcast microphone
• Lavalier (lapel) microphone

Good

• Wired earbuds with an inline microphone

Avoid whenever possible

• Built-in laptop microphones
• Speakerphone mode
• Bluetooth devices with poor audio quality

If you have headphones, please wear them to eliminate echo.

Lighting Tips: 

Help us make you look your best.

The easiest setup:

• Face a window during the daytime.
• Place a lamp behind your camera.
• Keep the primary light source in front of your face.

Avoid:

• Bright windows directly behind you
• Sitting in a dark room
• Overhead lighting only

Camera Placement: 

Position your camera:

• At eye level
• Stable on a desk or stand
• About an arm's length away

Look into the camera when speaking whenever possible to create a more engaging experience for viewers.

Your Background

Simple is best.

Choose a background that is:

• Clean
• Professional
• Free from distractions

Bookshelves, artwork, plants, and creative workspaces all work well.

Joining Through Restream. 

Your interview will take place using Restream.

You'll receive a private guest link before your recording.
No software download is required.
Simply:

1. Click your guest link.
2. Allow camera and microphone permissions.
3. Select the correct camera and microphone.
4. Join the studio.

If you're using a computer, we recommend using the latest version of Google Chrome whenever possible.

Please Join Early. 

We ask that all guests arrive 10–15 minutes before their scheduled recording time.

This gives us time to:

• Test your microphone
• Check your camera
• Adjust lighting if needed
• Verify internet stability
• Answer any last-minute questions
• Help you feel relaxed before we begin

During the Recording:

Please remember to:

• Silence your phone.
• Close unnecessary applications.
• Keep your microphone close to your mouth.
• Speak naturally.
• Don't worry if you make a mistake—we can usually edit it.

Our goal is to create a relaxed, conversational experience.

Live Broadcast Information:

Many of our interviews are recorded live and simultaneously broadcast on:

• TikTok
• YouTube

This allows your community to watch your interview in real time and engage with the conversation as it happens.

Audience members may:

• Watch live
• Participate in the chat
• Ask questions
• Celebrate your appearance with you

Your Partiful Invitation:

Before your interview, you'll receive a Partiful event invitation.

This invitation allows you to:

• RSVP for your appearance
• Invite friends, family, colleagues, and supporters
• Share your upcoming interview on social media
• Encourage your community to join the live audience
